First goal bet

Time of first team goal betting!

There are some new betting markets out there such as this one (where the bettor should predict the period when a team will score the first goal bet). This means that you will bet on one team (the team playing at home or the away team) with choosing it the time when they will score the first goal (first half or second half of the match) or you can even bet with not scoring even one goal during that match.

Let’s take for an example the match Everton vs. Newcastle and here are the odds:

-Home team will not score a goal (odds of 5/1)
-Away team will not score a goal (odds of 5/4)
-Home team scores the first goal in the first half of the match (odds of 4/7)
-Away team scores the first goal in the first half of the match (odds of 7/4)
-Home team scores the first goal in the second half of the match (odds of 21/10)
-Away team scores the first goal in the second half of the match (odds of 23/10)

It is important to know that the online bookmakers B365 will only consider the goals that were scored in the regular 90 minutes of the match (even own goals).

This kind of bet can even be valid if the match has been abandoned but only if the first goal bet was already scored. If you bet on a team and they score the first goal in the first half for example, and after the first half the match is abandoned then you will win your bet. But the bookmaker can choose to make the bets for the scoreless side to be void (depending on the half in which the match was abandoned). For example you bet on a team to score the first goal in first half, but the match gets abandoned in the second half, you will lose the bet anyway because your team was scoreless in the first half. But if you bet for the team to score the first goal bet in the second half or you will bet that the match will end up draw, than they will be considered as void.
